New Delhi: Members of Parliament from Kerala staged a protest in Parliament demanding better wages and working conditions for ASHA (Accredited Social Health Activist) workers. The MPs raised slogans and held placards highlighting the struggles of ASHA workers, who have been on strike in Kerala for over a month.
The protest comes amid growing pressure on the central and state governments to address the demands of ASHA workers, including job security, wage hikes, and recognition as full-time health employees.
Opposition MPs criticized the government for neglecting frontline health workers despite their crucial role in healthcare services, especially during the pandemic. The protest is expected to intensify if the authorities fail to take immediate action on the issue.
