Kerala HC Allows State Govt to Proceed with Land Acquisition for Wayanad Rehabilitation

Kochi: The Kerala High Court has permitted the state government to go ahead with the acquisition of land for the Wayanad rehabilitation project. The court has allowed the government to take symbolic possession of the land by depositing ₹26 crore as compensation.

The court’s decision clears legal hurdles that had previously delayed the project. By making the compensation payment, the state government can proceed with the rehabilitation efforts in Wayanad. This ruling is expected to accelerate the implementation of the project and provide relief to those awaiting resettlement.
