Kerala Govt to Submit Compensation Report Today in Bindu’s Death; Protests Mount as Health Minister May Visit Grieving Family

Kottayam: The Kerala government is set to receive a crucial report today recommending financial compensation for the family of Bindu, who tragically lost her life after a building collapse at Kottayam Medical College. Prepared by District Collector John V. Samuel, the report will serve as the foundation for the government’s aid decision. An official announcement is expected during the Cabinet meeting on Friday.

Amid growing public outrage, Health Minister Veena George is expected to visit Bindu’s family today. Expressing deep sorrow over the incident, the minister earlier wrote on social media: “Their grief is my grief. I share their pain and extend my heartfelt condolences. The government stands firmly with Bindu’s family.”

Meanwhile, the tragedy has ignited a political storm across the state. Opposition parties have called for statewide protests, demanding accountability. In Thiruvananthapuram, the Youth Congress and BJP’s Yuva Morcha are set to march to the Health Minister’s official residence. They insist on the minister’s resignation, vowing to continue their protests until she steps down.

However, the ruling CPM has rejected calls for her resignation, signaling a political standoff as public and political pressure intensifies.
