Kerala Govt. to Proceed with Brewery Plan Amid Debates

Thiruvananthapuram: The Kerala government has decided to move forward with its plan to establish breweries in the state despite ongoing debates and opposition from various quarters. The initiative aims to boost the state’s liquor production, generate revenue, and reduce dependence on imports from other states.

According to government sources, the new policy is expected to streamline licensing for breweries, attract private investment, and enhance the availability of quality beer within Kerala. Officials argue that the plan will also create job opportunities and contribute to the state’s economy.

However, the proposal has sparked criticism from opposition parties and social organizations, who claim that it could lead to increased alcohol consumption and social issues. Critics also argue that the government should focus on promoting responsible drinking rather than expanding liquor production.

The government, however, maintains that the move is intended to regulate the industry better and ensure quality control in locally produced beverages. More details on the brewery policy, including licensing norms and regulatory measures, are expected to be announced soon.
