Kerala Govt Attempts to Appease, But ASHA Workers Stand Firm on Agitation

Thiruvananthapuram: Despite efforts by the Kerala government to address their demands, ASHA (Accredited Social Health Activist) workers remain resolute in continuing their agitation. The protest, which has been ongoing for better wages and improved working conditions, has gained momentum across the state.

Government representatives held discussions with ASHA worker unions, offering assurances regarding their demands. However, the workers have expressed dissatisfaction, stating that the proposals fail to meet their expectations. They insist on a concrete commitment from the government regarding salary hikes, job security, and better social benefits.

ASHA workers play a crucial role in community healthcare services, including maternal and child care, disease prevention, and vaccination drives. Their long-standing demand for fair wages and recognition as full-time employees has been a major point of contention.

With negotiations at a standstill, ASHA workers have vowed to intensify their protest, calling for stronger action if their grievances remain unaddressed. The government is expected to hold further discussions in an attempt to resolve the issue.
