Kerala Government Approves Infrastructure Projects Worth ₹1,441.24 Crore Under NABARD’s Development Fund

Thiruvananthapuram: The Kerala government has given in-principle approval for infrastructure projects worth ₹1,441.24 crore under Tranche 31 of the NABARD Rural Infrastructure Development Fund (RIDF). The decision was taken by the High-Powered Committee, chaired by Chief Secretary A. Jayathilak, after reviewing project proposals submitted under the state’s normative allocation of ₹550 crore.

The approved projects cover a wide range of sectors, including roads, bridges, irrigation, drinking water supply, and rural development initiatives. The committee noted that these projects aim to strengthen the state’s infrastructure network, promote agricultural productivity, and enhance rural connectivity.

Officials said the proposals were selected based on their potential impact on local economies and their alignment with Kerala’s development priorities. The excess allocation beyond the normative limit was justified by the strong demand and the readiness of several major projects.

The Kerala government is expected to submit detailed project reports (DPRs) for NABARD’s final sanction in the coming weeks. Once approved, the projects will be implemented by various state departments and agencies, with strict monitoring to ensure timely completion.

The decision marks another step in Kerala’s effort to leverage NABARD funding for sustainable infrastructure development and long-term economic growth.
