Kerala Gold Prices Touch Historic Highs, Soar Close to ₹78,000

Kochi: Gold prices in Kerala are on an unprecedented upward streak, racing towards the ₹78,000 mark per sovereign (8 grams). On Tuesday, rates climbed another ₹160, setting the price at ₹77,800 per sovereign and ₹9,725 per gram.

This surge follows Monday’s dramatic ₹680 single-day jump, which pushed gold beyond the ₹77,000 milestone for the first time ever. Just last month, on August 8, gold stood at ₹75,760, later dipping by ₹2,300 before bouncing back with relentless momentum.

Market analysts point to global uncertainties as the driving force. The U.S.’s 50% tariff on Indian imports and the subsequent pressure on the Indian stock market have steered investors towards gold, long seen as a safe-haven asset. With demand soaring, experts warn that the yellow metal may set new all-time records in the coming days.
