Kochi: After an unstoppable rally that set new records almost daily, gold prices in Kerala have finally cooled. Rates tumbled today by ₹680 per sovereign (pavan), pulling the price down to ₹83,920. On a per-gram basis, gold is now trading at ₹10,490, marking an ₹85 drop.
At the start of September, gold was priced at ₹77,640 per sovereign. Prices first breached the ₹80,000 milestone on September 9, and peaked at a historic ₹84,840 on Tuesday. But in just two days, gold has shed ₹920 per sovereign, offering slight relief to buyers.
Market experts attribute the dip to shifts in the international market, though the continued preference for gold as a safe-haven investment is expected to keep prices elevated in the near term.
