Kerala Gold Prices Cool Down Slightly After Hitting Record Highs

Gold prices in Kerala have dipped slightly as of May 14, 2025, following a week marked by sharp fluctuations and record highs. The rate for 22K gold now stands at ₹8,805 per gram, and 24K gold is priced at ₹9,606 per gram. The cost of one sovereign (8 grams) of 22K gold has dropped to ₹70,440 — a ₹400 decrease from the previous day.

Earlier this month, gold prices hit an all-time high, with one sovereign peaking at ₹73,040 on May 8. The recent drop is attributed to easing global tensions, particularly the anticipated resolution of US-China trade issues, which has helped cool international gold markets.

Experts say the market remains volatile due to global economic trends and currency fluctuations. While the current dip offers some respite for consumers, analysts caution that further price shifts are likely in the coming days. Consumers in Kerala are advised to stay informed and consult trusted jewellers before making major gold purchases.
