Thiruvananthapuram: The Kerala government has announced September 30 (Tuesday) as a public holiday in connection with the Navaratri Poojavayppu celebrations, adding to the already scheduled holiday on October 1.
This will give people in the state a rare three-day holiday streak — September 30 (Durgashtami), October 1 (Mahanavami), and October 2 (Gandhi Jayanti).
The order applies to all government, semi-government, and public sector institutions, along with those under the Negotiable Instruments Act. Schools, colleges, and even professional institutions will also remain closed on Durgashtami.
However, Kerala Legislative Assembly staff will continue work as the Assembly session will be in progress, the General Administration Department clarified.
