Kerala CM Slams ‘Misogynistic’ Remarks Against MLA U Prathibha

Kerala Chief Minister Pinarayi Vijayan on Wednesday strongly condemned remarks made against Kayamkulam MLA U Prathibha, terming them misogynistic and insulting. The controversy arose after A Irshad, a leader of the Indian Union Muslim League (IUML) and UDF convener in Kayamkulam, allegedly made comments about Prathibha’s “eloquence and beauty” during an election event, while also criticising her performance as an MLA.

Reacting to the remarks, Vijayan said targeting a woman with derogatory statements simply because she is a public representative reflects a serious decline in political standards. He emphasised that such comments have no place in democratic discourse and called for maintaining dignity and respect in political campaigns.
