Kerala CM Pinarayi Vijayan Criticizes Governor’s Remarks on Supreme Court Ruling

Kerala Chief Minister Pinarayi Vijayan has expressed strong disapproval of Governor Arif Mohammed Khan’s recent comments regarding a Supreme Court decision. During a press conference, CM Vijayan stated that it is generally expected that a Governor should not oppose a Supreme Court ruling. He suggested that the Governor’s stance in this instance appears to be influenced by political considerations.

The Chief Minister emphasized the importance of upholding the judiciary’s authority and cautioned against politicizing constitutional positions. He urged all constitutional functionaries to respect the Supreme Court’s judgments to maintain the integrity of the state’s democratic institutions.

This development highlights ongoing tensions between the Kerala state government and the Governor’s office, particularly concerning interpretations of constitutional roles and responsibilities.
