Kerala Braces for More Rain: IMD Issues Yellow and Orange Alerts Across Multiple Districts

Thiruvananthapuram: The monsoon remains active across Kerala, with the India Meteorological Department (IMD) issuing yellow alerts in eight districts and warning of continued heavy rain and gusty winds over the coming days.

Districts under yellow alert today include Pathanamthitta, Alappuzha, Kottayam, Idukki, Kozhikode, Wayanad, Kannur, and Kasaragod. These areas may experience isolated heavy rainfall ranging between 64.5 mm and 115.5 mm, along with wind speeds of 40–50 km/h.

The IMD also forecasts stronger winds of 50–60 km/h in isolated places from July 24 to July 26, 2025. For tomorrow (July 24), yellow alerts remain in place for Pathanamthitta, Kottayam, Idukki, Kozhikode, Wayanad, Kannur, and Kasaragod, with continued risk of heavy downpours.

On July 25, an orange alert—indicating the potential for very heavy rain—has been announced for Pathanamthitta, Kottayam, Idukki, Ernakulam, and Thrissur districts. The alert extends to Palakkad, Malappuram, Kozhikode, and Wayanad on July 26.
