Thiruvananthapuram: The India Meteorological Department (IMD) has predicted isolated light showers in parts of Kerala today, with no major rain alerts issued. Pathanamthitta, Idukki, Ernakulam, Malappuram, Kozhikode, Wayanad, Kannur, and Kasaragod districts may see brief spells of rain.
However, the bigger concern lies over the seas and coastal belts. Strong winds and rough weather are forecast across multiple regions — including southern Gujarat, North Konkan, the northeast Arabian Sea, central-east Arabian Sea, and the Bay of Bengal — where wind speeds may reach 45–55 km/h, peaking up to 65 km/h at times.
Similar conditions are also expected along the Gujarat, Konkan, Goa, Andhra Pradesh, and Tamil Nadu coasts, as well as the Andaman Sea, Gulf of Mannar, and adjoining Kanyakumari coast, with winds ranging from 40–50 km/h and gusting up to 60 km/h.
