Kerala Braces for Heavy Showers: IMD Issues Yellow Alert in 5 Districts

The India Meteorological Department (IMD) has sounded a yellow alert in parts of Kerala, warning of renewed heavy rainfall from Wednesday with the possibility of intense downpours in isolated areas.

Tomorrow, heavy rain is likely in Pathanamthitta, Kottayam, Idukki, Kannur, and Kasaragod, while by Thursday the alert extends to Pathanamthitta, Kottayam, Ernakulam, Idukki, and Thrissur.

Showers were already reported in several areas, including Kochi, today. The IMD has also cautioned that thunderstorms with lightning may continue until Thursday, urging the public to exercise caution.

Officials warned that lightning poses serious risks to life, livestock, electrical networks, and household appliances, and called on residents to remain vigilant and follow safety measures.
