Kerala Braces for Heavy Showers as IMD Sounds Yellow Alert in Seven Districts

Kerala is gearing up for a spell of intense weather after the India Meteorological Department (IMD) issued yellow alerts across seven districts, warning of isolated heavy rainfall in the coming days. According to the forecast, regions including Thiruvananthapuram, Kollam, Pathanamthitta, Alappuzha, Kottayam, Idukki, and Ernakulam are likely to receive 64.5 mm to 115.5 mm of rain within 24 hours.

The IMD has also cautioned that the downpour may be accompanied by thunderstorms, lightning, and strong wind gusts touching 40 km/h. Coastal belts may face rough sea conditions, prompting fishermen to stay away from the waters until conditions improve.

With the possibility of flooding and landslides in vulnerable areas, authorities have urged the public to remain vigilant, follow safety advisories, and avoid unnecessary travel during heavy spells. Kerala’s disaster response teams are on standby as the state prepares for another wet and stormy phase.
