Thiruvananthapuram: Kerala has made history by becoming the first state in India to launch online Permanent Lok Adalat (PLA) services, offering citizens a convenient and efficient way to resolve legal disputes without physically appearing in court. The initiative, spearheaded by the Kerala State Legal Services Authority (KELSA), is set to be fully operational from the first week of May.
This innovative system includes provisions for online hearings, allowing parties to participate in proceedings virtually. The service aims to provide a user-friendly, cost-effective, and time-saving alternative to conventional legal processes, especially for disputes related to public utility services such as transport, postal, and telegraph services.
By integrating technology into the dispute resolution process, Kerala is setting a new benchmark for legal accessibility and efficiency. The online PLA system is expected to benefit thousands by reducing case pendency and providing swift resolutions, while also ensuring justice is delivered in a more accessible manner.
