Thiruvananthapuram: With the Kerala Assembly elections scheduled to be held today, authorities have urged voters to carry valid identification documents to ensure a smooth and hassle-free voting process.
Officials clarified that every voter must present at least one original identity proof at the polling booth to cast their vote. The Election Commission has listed multiple documents that can be used for identification.
Accepted identity documents include:
- Voter ID Card
- Aadhaar Card
- Indian Passport
- PAN Card
- Driving Licence
- Pension certificate with photograph
- Job card issued under the Viksit Bharat – Guarantee for Rozgar and Ajeevika Mission (Gramin) scheme
- Bank or Post Office passbook with photograph
- Government or Public Sector employee ID card
- Health Insurance Smart Card or Ayushman Bharat Health Card
- NPR Smart Card
- Official ID cards issued to MPs, MLAs, or MLCs
Election officials emphasized that voters must carry the original document, as photocopies or digital images may not be accepted at polling stations.
Adequate arrangements have been made across the state to facilitate voting, and voters are encouraged to verify their polling booth details in advance and arrive early to avoid last-minute delays.
The elections are expected to witness significant voter turnout across Kerala.
