Thiruvananthapuram: Bringing festive cheer ahead of Christmas and New Year, the Kerala government has announced that the December welfare pension will be distributed from December 15, with beneficiaries receiving the enhanced amount of ₹2,000.
Finance Minister K.N. Balagopal has approved ₹1,045 crore to facilitate the distribution. This month, over 62 lakh beneficiaries will receive the pension. Of them, 26.62 lakh will get the amount directly in their bank accounts, while others will receive it through cooperative banks, which will deliver the pension at their doorsteps.
The state has also pre-approved the central government’s share for 8.46 lakh beneficiaries, ensuring timely and smooth disbursal during the festive season.
