Kerala Actress Assault Case: Trial Court to Deliver Verdict on December 8

Eight-Year-Old Case Nears Closure as All Accused Remain Out on Bail

Kochi: The highly publicized Kerala actress assault case, which has gripped the state for years, is set to reach a decisive moment on December 8, when the trial court will finally pronounce its verdict. The case, ongoing since 2017, has seen prolonged proceedings, multiple delays, and intense public scrutiny.

With the trial stretching far beyond initial expectations, all accused have been out on bail for nearly a year. The most notable development came on September 18, 2024, when the Supreme Court granted bail to prime accused Pulsar Suni, observing that the trial was “not likely to be concluded within a reasonable time.”

The case stems from the shocking abduction and sexual assault of a prominent Malayalam actor, an incident that sparked national outrage and ignited conversations on women’s safety, workplace harassment, and accountability within the film industry.

As the verdict date approaches, anticipation is growing among the public, the film fraternity, and legal observers. The court’s ruling is expected to mark a significant milestone in one of Kerala’s most closely watched criminal trials.
