In a significant step toward a TB-free India, Prime Minister Narendra Modi has announced the launch of an ambitious 100-day intensified campaign to combat tuberculosis (TB) in the country’s high-burden districts. The initiative targets 347 districts across 33 states where TB prevalence remains alarmingly high. This campaign aims to improve early detection, timely diagnosis, and prompt treatment, thereby reducing delays that hinder patient recovery.
Union Health Minister JP Nadda underscored the importance of this initiative in achieving India’s goal of eradicating TB by 2025 five years ahead of the global target of 2030. The campaign leverages community participation, technological innovations, and nutritional support to boost treatment outcomes and reach vulnerable populations effectively.
This effort is part of India’s broader healthcare strategy to strengthen infrastructure and tackle TB through coordinated action and public engagement, signaling a united front against one of the nation’s most persistent health challenges.
