Indian Railways Bans Reels at Stations and Tracks — ₹1000 Fine and Arrest for Violators

Indian Railways has officially banned the filming of reels and short videos at railway stations, on train tracks, and inside trains. Citing safety hazards and disruptions to passengers, the Southern Railway has announced that violators will face a ₹1000 fine, and in serious cases, arrest under Railway Safety Rules.

Authorities warn that shooting videos in high-risk zones like platforms or near moving trains can lead to accidents and public nuisance. With the rise of viral stunts and selfie culture, officials are taking a hard stance to protect both railway operations and the public.

The Railway Protection Force (RPF), railway police, and station staff have been directed to closely monitor for violators. CCTV surveillance has been strengthened to identify and act swiftly against anyone filming reels without permission.

While photography remains allowed, video recording — even on mobile phones — is strictly prohibited without prior authorization.

This crackdown is part of Indian Railways’ larger mission to ensure passenger safety, operational efficiency, and to discourage the misuse of railway premises for risky or disruptive social media content.
