Chennai: An Indian Air Force training aircraft crashed during a routine training flight near Tiruporur, close to Tambaram in Tamil Nadu. The aircraft had taken off from the Tambaram Air Force Station and crashed within minutes of takeoff.
The aircraft involved in the accident was a PC-7 Pilatus basic trainer aircraft belonging to the Indian Air Force. According to officials, the pilot managed to eject safely using a parachute and is unharmed.
The extent of damage caused by the crash is yet to be determined.
The Indian Air Force has issued a statement confirming that a Court of Inquiry has been ordered to investigate the cause of the accident.
