India Marks 76th Constitution Day with Release of Constitution in 9 Indian Languages

India celebrated its 76th Constitution Day with a historic step toward inclusivity — the release of the Indian Constitution in nine Indian languages, unveiled by President Droupadi Murmu at Samvidhan Sadan, the old Parliament building’s Central Hall.

For the first time ever, Bodo and Kashmiri editions of the Constitution were introduced. The Punjabi version has been updated after nearly 50 years, while other languages including Malayalam, Marathi, Nepali, Telugu, Odia, and Assamese have also been added to the digital collection.

The celebrations also featured a ceremonial reading of the Preamble, led by President Murmu, with the Vice President, Prime Minister, Parliamentarians, and other dignitaries in attendance.

The initiative aims to make the nation’s founding document more accessible to people across linguistic backgrounds, strengthening the ideals of democracy, inclusivity, and constitutional awareness as India moves forward on its development journey.
