New Delhi: Prime Minister Narendra Modi has reaffirmed India’s unwavering commitment to a green and sustainable future, spotlighting bold policy reforms and international alliances that are transforming the nation into a global leader in climate action.
Addressing key developments, PM Modi highlighted the approval of three flagship schemes with a massive outlay exceeding ₹50,000 crore, aimed at enhancing agricultural productivity, rural infrastructure, and renewable energy investment. With over 50% of India’s power capacity (242.8 GW) now coming from clean, non-fossil fuel sources, the country has surpassed its Paris Agreement targets ahead of schedule.
India’s proactive leadership in global forums like G20, COP28, and G7 was also emphasized, with the Prime Minister citing strategic partnerships such as the International Solar Alliance, Global Biofuels Alliance, and One Sun One World One Grid.
Calling climate justice a “moral duty”, PM Modi asserted that sustainable development is now central to India’s growth model. He reiterated India’s vision of reaching 500 GW of clean energy capacity by 2030 and achieving net-zero emissions by 2070.
