India and Saudi Arabia have unveiled new joint initiatives aimed at deepening their strategic partnership across energy, trade, and infrastructure sectors. During his two-day visit to Saudi Arabia, Prime Minister Narendra Modi announced that both nations are exploring collaborative ventures in refinery and petrochemical development, as well as groundbreaking plans for electricity grid interconnectivity spanning India, Saudi Arabia, and neighboring regions.
Co-chairing the second meeting of the India–Saudi Arabia Strategic Partnership Council, Modi emphasized the multifaceted relationship between the two nations, citing cooperation in energy security, defense, healthcare, food security, and investment. Bilateral trade between the two countries topped $52.8 billion in 2022–2023, underscoring Saudi Arabia’s status as one of India’s most crucial partners.
Adding further momentum, the G20 summit served as the stage for the announcement of a landmark rail and shipping corridor linking India with the Middle East and Europe. The initiative—bringing together India, Saudi Arabia, the UAE, Jordan, Israel, and the EU—aims to boost regional economic integration, streamline energy transport, and improve digital connectivity.
These high-level engagements signal a new chapter in India-Saudi relations, rooted in shared vision, regional collaboration, and global ambition.
