Include Himalayan Valleys in Your Winter Travel Plans, Says PM Modi

Prime Minister Narendra Modi has urged Indians to explore the breathtaking Himalayan valleys this winter, highlighting the region’s natural beauty, cultural richness and rising tourism potential. Speaking about the country’s expanding travel trends, the Prime Minister encouraged families, adventure seekers and newlyweds to consider the Himalayas as a top destination during the winter season.

PM Modi noted that winter tourism in India has grown remarkably in recent years, with travellers increasingly choosing serene mountain landscapes over foreign getaways. He also pointed to the growing trend of destination weddings in hill states, especially along the scenic banks of the Ganga, calling it a reflection of the renewed interest in India’s spiritual and natural heritage.

He emphasised that exploring the Himalayas not only supports local communities but also allows visitors to experience India’s diverse culture—from snow-clad valleys and ancient temples to vibrant winter festivals.

With improved infrastructure, better connectivity and enhanced safety measures, hill states such as Uttarakhand, Himachal Pradesh and Jammu & Kashmir are recording a surge in winter footfall. PM Modi encouraged citizens to continue this momentum and discover the “unmatched charm” of the Himalayas during the cold season.
