High  Court of Kerala  asks Centre to clarify on AIIMS in Kerala

Kochi, July  25 (IVC)   A Division Bench of Honorable  High  Court  of Kerala has asked the Central Government here  on July  24 to inform it  whether  any  decision has  been taken on establishment  of an AIIMS (All India  Institute of Medical  Sciences)  in the State.

                The Bench  made the  comments when  a petition filed by the AIIMS  Kasargode  Janakeeya  Koottayma (Kasargode     People’s Consensus)   against  the State  government’s decision to  set  apart the  land  owned by the Kerala  State  Industrial Development  Corporation (KSIDC)  in Kinaloor, Kozhikode District  for  the  proposed  AIIMS  came  up  for hearing.

                The  petitioners  said that  Kasargod district  was  the  most  suitable location  to set up AIIMS. The  bank orally  observed  that  it  was  the  responsibility of the  elected  officials  to  decide on the establishment of  AIIMS in the State.
