Heavy Rains Lash Kerala Again; Yellow Alert Issued in Five Districts

Thiruvananthapuram: Kerala is bracing for another day of intense downpours as the India Meteorological Department (IMD) has predicted continued heavy rainfall across the State today. In response, authorities have issued a Yellow Alert in five districts — Idukki, Ernakulam, Thrissur, Malappuram, and Wayanad.

According to the IMD, these regions may experience isolated heavy showers, with rainfall expected to range between 64.5 mm and 115.5 mm within 24 hours.

The IMD has warned fishermen against venturing into the Kerala–Lakshadweep coast, citing the likelihood of rough sea conditions. Winds are expected to blow at speeds of 35–45 kmph, reaching up to 55 kmph in some instances, creating hazardous conditions for marine activities.

However, the department clarified that fishing along the Karnataka coast remains unrestricted. As the State continues to witness turbulent weather, residents and coastal communities are urged to remain cautious and follow official advisories.
