Gold Prices Soar to New Peak in Kerala, Jump ₹3,680 in a Single Day

Kochi: Gold prices in Kerala are continuing their unstoppable surge, smashing records and setting a new all-time high. After rising by ₹3,160 in multiple hikes on the previous day, gold witnessed another sharp increase of ₹3,680 per sovereign on Tuesday.

With the latest jump, the price of one sovereign (8 grams) has climbed to ₹1,13,520, while the per gram rate rose by ₹460 to reach ₹14,190.

Gold first crossed the ₹1 lakh mark on December 23, and the upward momentum has shown no signs of slowing down. The steep rise is being driven largely by developments in the international market, with global economic and geopolitical uncertainties pushing investors towards gold as a safe-haven asset.

Market instability has intensified following an announcement by US President Donald Trump that higher tariffs could be imposed on goods from European countries opposing the US stance on control over Greenland. This development has rattled global markets, further strengthening demand for gold.

As uncertainty continues to dominate the global landscape, increased investment in gold is keeping prices elevated, leaving buyers and jewellery consumers in Kerala grappling with soaring costs.
