Gold Prices Soar Past ₹1.18 Lakh; Sharp ₹1,520 Jump in a Single Day

Kochi: Gold prices in the state have surged dramatically once again, climbing above the ₹1.18 lakh mark after a steep single-day increase of ₹1,520 per sovereign. With this sharp rise, the price of one sovereign (8 grams) has touched ₹1,18,320 — the highest level recorded so far this month.

On a per gram basis, gold witnessed a ₹190 hike, pushing the rate to ₹14,790 per gram. The sudden spike has caught the attention of traders and buyers alike, especially amid ongoing fluctuations in the precious metal’s value.

At the beginning of the month, gold was priced at ₹1,17,760 per sovereign, while the lowest level this month was ₹1,07,920, recorded on the 2nd. The all-time high remains ₹1,31,160 per sovereign, set on January 29. Notably, December 23 marked a historic milestone when gold prices crossed the ₹1 lakh mark for the first time.

Market experts attribute the continued volatility to movements in global markets, currency fluctuations, and international economic uncertainties. With prices swinging between gains and corrections, investors and consumers are closely monitoring trends in the bullion market.
