Kochi: In a significant development for jewellery buyers and investors, gold prices in Kerala have recorded a sharp decline for the second consecutive day. The price of gold fell by ₹1,920 per sovereign, bringing the new rate down to ₹1,14,240.
The price per gram also dropped by ₹240, with gold now trading at ₹14,280 per gram. Just a day earlier, prices had decreased by ₹880 per sovereign, settling at ₹1,16,160.
Gold had touched a record high of ₹1,31,160 on January 29, after first crossing the ₹1 lakh milestone on December 23 — a historic moment that triggered a steep upward rally in the following weeks.
Market analysts point to fluctuations in the global market as the primary reason behind the current dip. With prices now oscillating between gains and losses, consumers and traders alike are keeping a close watch on the trend, hoping the softer rates will encourage fresh purchases in the coming days.
