Gold Prices Skyrocket: ₹2,160 Surge in a Day Pushes Sovereign Rate to All-Time High of ₹66,480

Kochi: Gold prices soared to new heights today, marking a dramatic jump of ₹2,160 per sovereign and setting a fresh record at ₹66,480. The per gram price also shot up by ₹270, now standing at ₹8,560.

This steep rise follows global market shifts and volatility in the stock market, with investors flocking to gold as a safe-haven asset amid economic uncertainties. Adding to the momentum, the U.S. has imposed countervailing duties on several countries, including India, further shaking market dynamics.

Today’s hike marks the second straight day of gains after a five-day slump. Gold had previously touched ₹66,000 on March 18, and back in January, it crossed the ₹60,000 mark per sovereign for the first time in history — highlighting the metal’s rising appeal in turbulent times.
