Kochi: After a period of sharp swings, gold prices in the state took a breather on Wednesday, remaining unchanged while still hovering above the ₹1.15 lakh mark. A pavan of gold is priced at ₹1,15,800, with the per-gram rate steady at ₹14,475, offering a brief sense of stability to the market after days of turbulence.
Gold had touched a record high of ₹1,31,160 per pavan on January 29, having crossed the ₹1 lakh milestone for the first time on December 23. Since then, prices have largely been on a roller-coaster ride, driven by shifts in the global market. On the previous day alone, gold jumped ₹1,640 in the morning before shedding ₹680 by afternoon, highlighting how international trends continue to dictate local gold prices.
