Gold Prices Fluctuate in Kerala; Rate Remains Above ₹1.16 Lakh per Sovereign

Kochi: Gold prices in Kerala continue to witness sharp fluctuations. After rising sharply a day earlier, the price of gold fell by ₹200 per sovereign on Thursday, taking the rate to ₹1,16,240 per sovereign. The price of gold per gram also declined by ₹25, settling at ₹14,530.

The record high gold price in the state was ₹1,31,160 per sovereign, recorded on January 29. Gold crossed the ₹1 lakh mark for the first time on December 23, after which prices surged in the following days. In recent sessions, however, gold prices have been moving up and down amid market volatility.

On Wednesday morning, gold prices jumped by ₹1,640 per sovereign, but by afternoon the rate had dropped by ₹680. Market experts say fluctuations in global markets and international economic conditions are being reflected in gold prices in Kerala.
