Kochi: Gold prices in Kerala are climbing once more, with a sharp ₹400 increase per sovereign (8 grams) recorded today. The new rate now stands at ₹74,000 per sovereign, while the per gram rate has risen by ₹50, reaching ₹9,250.
This marks another chapter in a series of volatile price swings seen in the gold market in recent days. Last Friday, prices surpassed the previous record of ₹74,320 set on April 22, and Saturday continued the upward trend — pointing to the possibility that gold could soon breach the ₹75,000 threshold.
Analysts attribute the surge to geopolitical tensions, particularly the ongoing Iran-Israel conflict, which has led investors to flock toward gold as a safe-haven investment. With global uncertainties mounting, experts believe the rally in gold prices is far from over.
