Gold Makes a Glorious Comeback: Prices Soar by ₹2,000, Cross ₹72,000 Mark

Kochi – Gold prices roared back to life today after a brief slump, registering a dramatic rise of ₹2,000 per sovereign to hit ₹72,200. The per gram price also climbed ₹50, now standing at ₹9,025.

The yellow metal had been on a downward slide since April 23, cooling off from record highs that nearly touched ₹75,000. After breaching the ₹70,000 mark on May 12, gold dropped by over ₹4,000 in just ten days—until today’s sharp rebound reversed the trend. A total spike of ₹2,160 over the past 48 hours signals renewed momentum in the market.

Analysts point to persistent global economic uncertainty as the key driver, pushing more investors toward gold’s safe-haven appeal. This surge in demand is keeping prices buoyant even amid recent market volatility.

With investor sentiment once again turning optimistic, speculation is rising over whether gold is gearing up for another run toward the ₹75,000 milestone.
