Kochi: Gold prices in Kerala have skyrocketed to an all-time high, crossing the ₹85,000 mark per sovereign (8 grams) for the very first time. In a dramatic single-day jump of ₹680, the price now stands at ₹85,360 per sovereign. On the per-gram scale, gold rose by ₹85 to touch ₹10,670.
The rally has been relentless this month. Starting at ₹77,640 in early September, prices crossed ₹80,000 on September 9 and have continued to climb almost daily, smashing record after record. The previous peak of ₹84,840, recorded just on September 23, has now been overtaken.
Market analysts attribute the surge to global price movements and a growing preference for gold as a safe-haven investment. With demand soaring and international trends pushing prices higher, gold’s upward momentum shows little sign of slowing.
