The Indian Railways has announced the launch of the Ernakulam–Bengaluru Vande Bharat Express. The high-speed train is set to be a game-changer for Malayalis living in Bengaluru, offering faster, more comfortable, and convenient travel — especially during holidays and festival seasons.
As per the proposed schedule, the Vande Bharat will depart Bengaluru at 5:00 AM and reach Ernakulam by 1:50 PM. On its return leg, it will leave Ernakulam at 2:20 PM and arrive in Bengaluru at 11:00 PM. The train will halt at Thrissur, Palakkad, Coimbatore, Tiruppur, Erode, Salem, Jolarpettai, and Krishnarajapuram, providing key regional connectivity. The service will not operate on Wednesdays.
Currently, the journey between the two cities takes around 13 hours, but the Vande Bharat Express is expected to slash that time to under 9 hours, ensuring a much faster and smoother ride.
The new service is likely to commence by mid-November, marking yet another milestone in the expansion of India’s semi-high-speed rail network. Previously, special Vande Bharat services ran on Thursdays, Saturdays, and Mondays, but the new regular route promises to make travel between Kerala and Karnataka easier than ever before.
