Fake ID Card Scandal: Crime Branch Targets Rahul Mamkootathil’s Inner Circle in Raids

Pathanamthitta: The Crime Branch has stepped up its probe into the sensational fake ID card case tied to the Youth Congress state president elections, raiding the homes of workers closely linked to Rahul Mamkootathil, MLA.

Raids were carried out in Adoor and Elamkulam, where investigators seized mobile phones and organizational documents. The searches mainly targeted those who played key roles in the membership campaign ahead of the controversial elections.

So far, five Pathanamthitta natives have been named accused in the case. The first accused is Feni Nainan, a close aide of Rahul. Though Rahul himself is not officially an accused, investigators had earlier uncovered digital evidence hinting at his links, leading to a notice summoning him for questioning tomorrow.

The fake ID card controversy, which rocked the Youth Congress, was first registered by the Thiruvananthapuram Museum Police. Rahul was questioned during the initial probe, but no direct evidence tied him to the creation of fake IDs at the time. The investigation, now in the hands of the Crime Branch, has reignited the political storm.
