In the wake of a devastating stampede at the Maha Kumbh Mela in Prayagraj, which tragically claimed the lives of nearly 40 individuals and injured over 90 others, authorities have ramped up their efforts to ensure the safety of the millions of pilgrims attending the festival.
Superintendent of Police (Traffic), Anshuman Mishra, announced that the affected area would remain a no-vehicle zone until the crowd fully disperses. This move aims to facilitate emergency services and prevent further incidents.
To strengthen crowd control, a state-of-the-art Integrated Control and Command Centre has been set up. The centre utilizes artificial intelligence (AI) to analyze real-time data from CCTV cameras and drones, allowing authorities to track crowd movement and swiftly respond to potential surges.
With an expected 400 million pilgrims over the course of the 45-day festival, the authorities are urging visitors to stay alert, adhere to safety measures, and work with law enforcement to ensure a safe and spiritual experience for everyone.
