Kochi: The much-anticipated edited version of Empuraan has been delayed, reportedly due to technical reasons, and is now expected to hit theaters only after Wednesday or Thursday. The delay follows controversies and boycott calls from right-wing groups.
Initially, the revised version was slated for release on Monday. However, Mohanlal had earlier expressed regret over certain scenes that caused discomfort among some viewers and confirmed that those portions would be removed. In response, the editing process was fast-tracked, with the Censor Board even convening on a holiday to speed up approvals.
Meanwhile, the unedited version of Empuraan continues its phenomenal box office run, grossing over ₹90 crore overseas. Mohanlal himself shared that the film has crossed the $1 million mark, raking in over $5 million within just two days of release.
