Chennai: In a significant boost to actor Vijay’s political foray, the Election Commission of India has officially allotted the ‘Whistle’ symbol to his party, Tamilaga Vettri Kazhagam (TVK), as it prepares to contest its first-ever Tamil Nadu Assembly election.
Welcoming the decision, TVK leaders described the symbol allotment as a major milestone and a strong foundation for the party’s electoral journey. The party had submitted a formal request seeking the whistle as its election symbol.
Party leaders said the whistle perfectly reflects TVK’s ideology of vigilance, responsibility, and active public participation. Easily recognisable to people from all walks of life, the whistle symbolises awakening, questioning authority, and exposing injustice, they added.
With the symbol now in place, TVK is gearing up to make its electoral debut in Tamil Nadu, setting the stage for a high-profile political contest in the run-up to the Assembly polls.
