ECI Likely to Announce Pan-India Summary Intensive Revision of Voters’ List on October 27: Officials

New Delhi: The Election Commission of India (ECI) is expected to announce the pan-India Summary Intensive Revision (SIR) of the voters’ list on October 27, according to senior officials.

While the complete details are yet to be released, sources indicated that the Commission will unveil the first phase of the nationwide revision drive, covering 10 to 15 states, including those that are scheduled to hold Assembly elections in 2026.

The Summary Intensive Revision is a crucial annual exercise undertaken by the ECI to ensure that the electoral rolls remain accurate and updated, incorporating new voters turning 18, deleting duplicate or outdated entries, and updating voter details.

Officials said the process will be conducted in close coordination with state election authorities and local officials, ensuring transparency and inclusiveness in voter registration.

The ECI is also expected to announce the timeline for claims and objections, allowing citizens to verify and update their voter information through both online and offline platforms.

Once launched, the initiative will mark a significant step in the Commission’s ongoing efforts to strengthen the electoral process and ensure a clean, error-free voters’ list ahead of upcoming state and national elections.
