Kochi: In a major setback for the police, forensic tests have failed to prove that Malayalam actor Shine Tom Chacko had consumed narcotic substances in the much-discussed drug case that stirred widespread controversy across Kerala.
The forensic report, released recently, states that there is no scientific evidence to establish drug use by the actor. The findings have significantly weakened the case, which had drawn intense public and media attention at the time.
The case stemmed from allegations that Shine Tom Chacko and a friend had consumed drugs after checking into a hotel room in Ernakulam. The situation escalated when the actor allegedly fled the hotel during a raid conducted by the District Anti-Narcotic Special Action Force (DANSAF), an incident that quickly became a talking point.
According to police, the inspection was carried out in April as part of Operation D-Hunt, following a tip-off about suspected drug use in the actor’s hotel room. Officers claimed that upon realizing the police had arrived, Shine Tom Chacko escaped through a window from the third floor of the hotel and fled.
Despite the dramatic circumstances surrounding the incident and hours of questioning that followed, the forensic findings have now failed to support the core allegation, delivering a decisive blow to the police case.
