Delhi Turns Fortress Ahead of 79th Independence Day: 10,000+ Police, High-Tech Surveillance, and Strict Vehicle Checks

New Delhi: In preparation for India’s 79th Independence Day, the national capital has been placed under an unprecedented security blanket. Over 10,000 police personnel, 3,000 traffic officers, paramilitary forces, and commandos have been deployed, backed by cutting-edge surveillance technology.

The Red Fort — where the Prime Minister will hoist the national flag — is under tight watch with CCTV cameras, drone detection systems, and facial recognition technology. For the first time, under-vehicle surveillance systems have been installed at five parking sites to detect explosives or weapons hidden beneath vehicles.

Security measures include 24/7 identity checks, barricades, and enhanced patrols at markets, metro stations, bus terminals, railway stations, and airports. Aerial threats have been preemptively countered, with drones, paragliders, and hot air balloons banned in Delhi from August 2 to 16.

Commercial vehicles will be denied entry into Delhi from 10 p.m. on August 14, ensuring smooth movement for official ceremonies. Senior officers are personally inspecting arrangements to ensure flawless security on the big day.
