Delhi HC Rules Against Disclosure of PM Modi’s Degree Records

New Delhi: In a significant ruling, the Delhi High Court has set aside an order by the Central Information Commission (CIC) that sought disclosure of Prime Minister Narendra Modi’s BA degree details.

The CIC had earlier, on December 21, 2016, directed Delhi University to provide access to the records of all students who cleared the 1978 BA examination, including Modi, based on an RTI plea filed by a petitioner named Neeraj.

Delhi University challenged the directive, arguing against releasing the information. The High Court has now upheld the university’s stand, ruling that the Prime Minister’s degree records need not be made public.
