Thiruvananthapuram: Kerala Chief Minister Pinarayi Vijayan has announced that de-addiction centres will be set up in every district across the state to combat the increasing use of drugs and addiction-related issues. The initiative aims to provide better support and rehabilitation for those affected by substance abuse.
Addressing the media, the Chief Minister highlighted the state’s growing concerns over public smoking and the rising drug use, especially among the younger generation. As part of the initiative, awareness campaigns will be launched targeting children, parents, and teachers starting in June. These campaigns will focus on educating the public about the harmful effects of smoking in public spaces and the dangers of drug abuse.
The move is part of a broader strategy to create a more supportive environment for those struggling with addiction while promoting preventive measures through education and awareness. The state government is also working closely with health professionals and NGOs to ensure the success of the de-addiction centres and related campaigns.
