COVID-19 Test Now Mandatory to Meet PM Modi Amid Rising Cases Across India

New Delhi – In response to the recent surge in COVID-19 cases, all ministers scheduled to meet Prime Minister Narendra Modi must undergo an RT-PCR test. The move comes ahead of a celebratory dinner hosted by the Prime Minister at his official residence following the BJP’s victory in the Delhi Assembly elections.

Among the invitees are Delhi Chief Minister Rekha Gupta, several union ministers, BJP MPs, and MLAs. The dinner, set to begin at 7:30 PM, will see participation from around 70 Delhi leaders—all of whom have undergone COVID-19 testing as a precaution.

Meanwhile, India has recorded a concerning rise in COVID-19 infections. According to the Union Health Ministry, the total number of active cases has now surpassed 7,000. In the past 24 hours alone, 306 new cases and six COVID-related deaths were reported—three in Kerala, two in Karnataka, and one in Maharashtra. Kerala leads with 170 fresh infections and over 2,000 active cases.

Authorities are urging continued vigilance and adherence to health protocols as the virus shows signs of resurgence.
