Court Rejects Plea for Fresh Probe into ADM Naveen Babu’s Death; Trial to Begin Soon

The Judicial First Class Magistrate Court, Kannur, has dismissed a petition filed by Manjusha, wife of late ADM Naveen Babu, demanding a fresh investigation into his controversial death. The court ruled that the case will now move forward to trial at the Thalassery Sessions Court.

Manjusha, represented by advocate John S. Raph, alleged that the police inquiry was biased and incomplete, focusing narrowly on bribery charges against her husband while sidelining crucial evidence. She accused the investigators of shaping the probe to benefit the accused and ignoring vital leads.

The petition further pointed out that the accused’s phone was not properly examined and that police overlooked the alleged connection between Naveen’s colleague Prashanth and P.P. Divya, the then district panchayat president.

Currently, P.P. Divya is the only accused in the case. Naveen Babu’s family maintains that he took his life after being publicly humiliated by Divya during his farewell function, which he attended uninvited.
